NSS volumes cannot be seen after upgrading from NetWare 5

NSS volumes are not seen by NSS /ZLSSVolumeUpgrade command

cause

When NSS volumes are expanded under NetWare 5, there is a condition where some information in the volume is not updated properly.  This does not present a problem with the function or integrity of the volume, until it is upgraded to NetWare 6 NSS.  At this point, segments of the volume may be lost, causing the volume to be lost.

fix

Download NSSCHK1A.EXE, extract and run NSSCHECK.NLM from that patch, prior to upgrading to NetWare 6.  This patch does no damage to the NSS volumes on NetWare 5, and if the corruption does not exist, it will not make any changes, so it doesn't hurt to run it against all NSS volumes on your NetWare 5 server.
