symptom

Error "Unknown server error"

fact

Error occurs when trying to access Groupwise WebAccess through the NetWare WebAccess portal.

fix

This problem is seen when configuring the Groupwise WebAccess gadget in either NPS or NetWare WebAccess to use a secured port (i.e. https:ipaddress/servlet/webacc) and they are using the Novell Certificate Server to sign certificates on the web server hosting Groupwise WebAccess.  Because the Novell Certificate Server is not listed under the browsers list of trusted authorities a pop up message is displayed in the browser requesting the user to manually accept the certificate and continue.  This pop-up notification from the browser seems to cause an interference in the portal.

This has been reported to engineering.  Currently there is no fix unless the customer chooses to get a certificate from a company listed as a trusted authority within the browser, like Verisign or Entrust.
