fact

Novell NetWare 6

Novell iFolder 1.0.1

symptom

User cannot authenticate to the iFolder administrator

user can authenticate to iFolder via the client but not to the administrator

fix

First, verify that the name being used to authenticate was the same name defined as the administrator for iFolder during the initial install.  This can be verified by looking at the SYS:\APACHE\IFOLDER\SERVER\HTTPD_ADDITIONS_NW.CONF file.  The parameter will read:

iFolderAdminName admin

This will be located in two sections within this conf file, under the virtual host settings for the unsecured port (usually port 80 or 52080) and then again under the virtual host settings for the secured port (usually port 443 or 52443).  Multiple admin users can be defined by using a ; to separate the names.
For example:
iFolderAdminName admin;user1

Second, make sure there are no special characters in the administrators password, like an "=" sign.  Although the user can authenticate through the client with this format they will not be able to authenticate to the iFolder administrator.

Also verify that the correct ports are being used by LDAP. If LDAP is supposed to be listening on 389, make sure that "Allow Clear Text Passwords" is checked, as well as that iFolder is configured to use port 389 instead of 636.  If LDAP is supposed to be listening over SSL, make sure that iFolder is configured to use port 636
