symptom

Error opening connection to SMDR, during IP migration.

Migration is being attempted through IP, IPX is not enabled.

cause

Servers are not able to communicate via SMS.  To verify, do the following on the NetWare 6 server:
Load SBCON.  Go to Job Administration, Backup, Hit ENTER on Target Service, check to see if the source server is in the list.  If it is not there, there is communication issues.

fix

This can be resolved in one of two ways:  1.  Create an SLP DA server and edit the ETC\SLP.CFG file of each server to point to it.  2.  Enable IPX on both server.
