Error: "Need to upgrade the Support Pack"
Error: "You are going to migrate NSS volume(s) which reside on NetWare 5.0, Support Pack 6. You must upgrade to the latest support pack before you proceed."
Warning: "Invalid NSS Modules."
Warning: "You have NSS volumes on your source server. If you are going to migrate them to the new server, you will first need to update your NSS modules on the source server. See TID 10068067 for more information on how to update the NSS modules."
cause
This issue is very specific to NetWare 5.0 Support Pack 6a when attempting to migrate NSS volumes. The critical error has been changed to a warning and will allow you to proceed. However, if you do and you haven't installed the updated NSS modules mentioned in the Fix statement, the files on the migrated NSS volume will most likely have a file length of 0.
fix
Start with a good backup of your volumes. Install NSS5L.EXE (this file is no longer on any Novell site, but a general Web search will find it somewhere) and run the Rebuild option on the NSS volumes you will migrate. Use Migration Wizard dated January 31 or later. In the Migration Wizard Help, the version displays as 6.0.1003.2.
