fact

Novell NetWare 6.0

Novell Certificate Server 2.0

Novell iFolder 1.01

Novell iFolder is dependant on ROOTCERT.DER

symptom

ROOTCERT.DER not exported during the install of Certificate server.

iFolder won't initialize because the ROOTCERT.DER doesn't exist

cause

Either the export ROOTCERT.DER check box wasn't checked during the install, or the export failed during the install.

fix

1.  Determine which Key Material object the service (e.g., LDAP, Web Server, etc.) is using.  In order to determine this, see the documentation for the service.  Some services store the name of the server certificate in configuration files on the server, others store it in eDirectory.
2.  Open ConsoleOne.
3.  Open the Properties of the Key Material object that the service is using.
4.  Go to the Certificates > Trusted Root tab.
5.  Click Export.
6.  Newer versions of ConsoleOne snapin will ask whether you want to export the private key.  Select No.
7.  Select the binary DER format.
8.  Copy the exported file to the desired location.
