fact

Novell NetWare 6.0

Novell NetWare WebAccess

symptom

Error: "javax.naming.InvalidNameException::[LDAP: error code 34 - Invalid DN Syntax]"

Error: "500 Location: /webaccess/servlet/portal Internal Servlet Error:"

cause

The System.PortalConfigurationObjectDN line in the SYS:WEBAPPS\WEBACCESS\WEB-INF\PortalServlet.Properties file was incorrect.  This line should be the full LDAP context pointing to the Webaccess_PCO object.

fix

Edit the PortalServlet.Properties file to reflect the correct context of the PCO object.  Stop and restarted Apache, Tomcat and Java.

At the Console prompt do the following for the given applications.

For Apache:
UNLOAD APACHE and the LOAD APACHE

For Web Server:
NVXADMDN to stop the web server and NVXADMUP to start the web server

For TOMCAT:
TOMCAT - stop  (this stops TOMCAT)
TOMCAT (to restart TOMCAT)

For JAVA:
JAVA -exit (to unload java)
JAVA (to start java again)
