symptom

Inplace upgrade: DIBMIG.NLM will not load because of public symbol errors.

The version of DIBMIG.NLM that is attempting to load is older than 9/4/2001 (NetWare 6 shipping).

Java GUI hangs right after DIBMIG.NLM error.

CCS.NLM initialization waiting for XMGR (xxx seconds)

Error: SYS:\SYSTEM\DIBMIG.NLM could not be loaded

SERVER-5.60-918: Loader cannot find public symbol: kResume for module DIBMIG.NLM

SERVER-5.60-918: Loader cannot find public symbol: kSuspend for module DIBMIG.NLM

Errors seen on the logger screen

cause

There is an existing C:\NWUPDATE directory on the server which contains DIBMIG.NLM and NI.ZIP.  These files will overwrite the files on the NetWare 6 CD.

fix

Delete the C:\NWUPDATE directory on the server.
