symptom

Declaring an epoch destroys all replica ring attributes on servers holding copies, except for the Master

After an epoch is declared on a partition, all of the receiving replicas lose their replica attribute.

Master replica shows all servers in a new state, but the other servers holding replicas when viewing the replica ring ask you to repair replica ring.  After you repair the replica ring, servers ONLY show themselves in the replica ring.

The Master server is getting -672 or -669 errors to all servers in the replica ring

-626 and -634 errors in sync because of the broken replica rings

NDSmanager, NWadmin and ConsoleOne may show unknown objects.

cause

When the epoch is declared it appears to bag the receiving replicas objects but not the partition record on the receiving server.  This leaves the receiving server with all of the objects in the partition destroyed basically but the partition record is still there and in an on state.  In this situation the sending server cannot access to the receiving server because the receiver thinks it has the partition and doesn't recognize the master as the  master.  This will give you the -672 errors in sync.  The -669 errors are caused because the master server is located inside the partition with the epoch problem.  Therefore its public key attribute is destroyed on the receiving server along with all other attributes without that key it can't get a licensed connection to the receiving server.

fix

This has been resolved in the following DS versions:
