Novell Import Configure Export Utility (ICE)

Novell LDAP version 85.x

symptom

Error: "ldif_simple_bind failed: 13(Confidentiality required)"

The above error is followed by the admin userid given in the command line

Importing users from an LDIF file via ICE

This commmand line given is:
ice -o -e sys:\x400\logs\ldiferr.txt -S LDIF -f sys:\x400\output\Name.out -D LDAP -s OSU-FS18 -d .admin.okstate -w password

ldap_simple_bind failed: 81(Can't contact LDAP server), dn: .admin.okstate

cause

SAS (Security Authentication Services) is corrupted.

fix

Reinstall SAS for that server.  See Solution 10013773 for more information.

The "ldif_simple_bind failed: 13(Confidentiality required)" error can occur if you are not using SSL and do not have "Allow Clear Text Passwords" selected in the properties of the LDAP Group object.
