fix

Administrators want an easy way to roll out the 32-bit client installation without user intervention.

NOTE: The GroupWise 5.5 Online Documentation (GroupWise Administrator's Guide) contains complete information on the Administrator Defined Setup process.

For GroupWise 5.5 go to:  Configuring Administrator Defined Setup  (Click on Client Setup Guide | Setting up the Windows 95/98/NT Client | Configuring Administrator Defined Setup)
To use with NAL go to:  Using NAL to Distribute the GroupWise Windows 95/98/NT Client (Click on Client Setup Guide | Setting up the Windows 95/98/NT Client | Using NAL to Distribute the GroupWise Windows 95/98/NT Client

For GroupWise Enhancement Pack go to: GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack Client Setup Guide (Click on  Client Setup Guide | Use a Configuration File to Enable AutoUpdate and to Select Installation Responses)
To use with NAL go to:  Use NAL to Distribute the GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack Client (Click on  Client Setup Guide | Use NAL to Distribute the GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack Client

To use with the remote client put the SETUP.CFG file onto disk one of the remote install.

Novell has added functionality into the GroupWise 5.5, 32-bit client install to reduce the cost of deployment and eliminate user intervention during the 32-bit client installation. The following information provides the benefit of this functionality, instructions for implementing, and a sample of the SETUP.CFG file.

BENEFIT
A normal (non-silent) installation receives the necessary input from the user in the form of responses to dialog boxes. A "silent" or unassisted installation takes place completely behind the scenes; it doesn't display any user interface, so there is no need for a user to monitor the installation and provide input via dialog boxes.

IMPLEMENTATION
To implement the functionality of the silent install, follow the instructions below:

1. Modify the settings in the SETUP.CFGNovell has added functionality into the GroupWise 5.5, 32-bit client install to reduce the cost of deployment and eliminate user intervention during the 32-bit client installation. IMPLEMENTATION
To implement the functionality of the silent install, follow the instructions below:

1. Modify the settings in the SETUP.CFG file found in the \SOFTWARE\CLIENT directory according to the response desired from the installation. Note: The SETUP.CFG file can be edited with any ASCII text editor.

2. Copy the modified SETUP.CFG file into the \SOFTWARE\CLIENT\WIN32 directory to activate.

Below is a list of setting that can be set for the client. The default SETUP.CFG file is designed to show the dialogs as it selects the options for the user during the installation, to perform a workstation (network) installation, to install the desktop, to enable integrations with all applications, and use the English language.

Note: Remember that Conversation Place requires a TSERVER (Telephony Service), TSAPI provider, or a Modem for use. Also note that Workflow and Imaging can only be installed with the standard install option.
