symptom

Nal Error: Could not configure workstation for application [file name] ID=3

Nal Error: Unable to copy file [ file path.....]  D018

D018 Could not get needed resources... error is being generated sometimes.

fix

Select the application object in NetWare Administrator and go to "Details"
1. Select the "Macros" tab.
2. Select "SOURCE_PATH"
3. Click on "Modify"
4. Make sure that the path indicated points to the correct path on the server.

5. Try and use Alpha numeric characters in the naming directories that make up the SOURCE_PATH.  In one case the following directory was used:"  \Special Ed Manager [48 w and popup] (Dell II)\ "    By renaming the directory to " \Special\ " and changing it to the same in the Macro SOURCE_PATH value, the error was did not occur again.

6. If the application object is associated to a workstation object or workstation group, make sure that the object/group has been made a trustee of the directory where the *.FIL files are. RF rights must be granted.  When the application is associated to a workstation object the NetWare user rights are not valid, it relies on the rights of the w/s object either directly or via a w/s group.
