fix
RPL (Remote Program Load):
Novell NetWare RPL Generic Bootstrap Program:
Dos v5.0+: NO RPLFIX
Power on to login: Connects 3 times
Frame Types: Ethernet_802.2, NET.CFG
Boot code update: New *.RPL file and RPL.NLM reload
Boot images: BOOTCONF.SYS list up to 10 for a pick list during bootup.
Server support: Needs RPL.NLM loaded and bound and the boot image files. Specific servers can respond.
Workstation support:NO RPLODI.COM
No server response: Incrementing request counter.
REMOTE BOOT:
Copyright message: Novell NetWare Remote Program Loader
Dos v5.0+: Needs RPLFIX.
Power on to login: Connects 2 times.
Frame Types: Ethernet_802.3, NET.CFG
Boot code update: New boot ROM
Boot images: BOOTCONF.SYS redirects to one or default to NET$DOS.SYS.
Server support: Needs the boot image files on ALL servers that can respond to Ethernet_802.3. requests.
Workstation support:Needs RPLODI.COM between LSL.COM and MLID.
No server response: "Error finding server" message.
CONFIGURATION (generic ethernet):
Remote Boot:
Load the LAN driver with the Ethernet_802.3 frame type and bind IPX to it. Dosgen the boot image and copy it to the login directory of ALL servers that are available to respond to the client. Note: Since the NetWare default frame type has changed to Ethernet_802.2, limiting the servers that load and bind the Ethernet_802.3 frame can be used to set specific servers as the boot servers.
RPL:
Load the LAN driver with the Ethernet_802.2 frame type. Bind IPX. Load RPL.NLM AFTER the *.RPL files have been placed in the SYS:LOGIN directory and bind to the Ethernet_802.2 frame. Dosgen the boot image and copy it to any servers that have the RPL.NLM loaded and bound.
Dos Version Issues:
MS v5.00: Remote Boot requires RPLFIX and RPLODI.COM
MS v6.00+:Same as v5.00, do not run MEMMAKER, sets a default path to a:\dos
Troubleshooting:
1. Identify the boot ROM, RPL or Remote Boot?
2. Check server configuration. RPL/IPX loaded and bound to correct frames?
3. Rename CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT on boot disk and re-Dosgen, then load drivers manually from A: prompt.
4. To get the latest Remote Program Load kit download the file RPLKTX.EXE (where "X" denotes the current download file revision, which is RPLKT5.EXE at the time this writing).
