fact
Novell GroupWise 5.5
symptom
Error: "File Copy Failed For Unknown Reason".
Error installing the GroupWise client.
change
Patched the GroupWise 5.5 software.
cause
Corruption problem in software distribution directory.
fix
Create a new Software Distribution Directory and run the support pack installation again. A new unpatched SDD can be created by reinstalling from the CD.
The following may be a quicker option:
(1) Copy all files off the CD, except the NWADMIN folder and the files on the root of the CD, to your local hard drive.
(2) Remove the READ ONLY attribute from the files (running "ATTRIB -R *.* /S" from a command prompt, for example).
(3) Reinstall the support pack.
NOTE: When running the support pack installation to an SDD on your local drive, electing to copy files to a temporary location on this local drive will not speed up the process since the files are already there (see Step 1).
(4) Copy this newly patched SDD back to the appropriate location on the network.
