Service Pack 1: Machine fails on reboot

Symptom
The System is configured with the Root Filesystem on Softraid.
After Installation with Service Pack 1 CD or after update to Patch Level Service Pack 1 the LPAR fails on reboot.
The Message says that yaboot.cnf could not be read.
Cause
The package
lilo
of Service Pack 1 has a problem with determining the correct path on Softraid. Therefore the bootloader cannot find the Root-Filesystem, therefore boot fails.
Solution
Boot with the Service Pack 1 CD into the installed System. For this attach the DVD-Rom to LPAR in the Server Profile and select SMS to boot.
Then you reIPL the LPAR and open a Terminal Window and select
5. Select Boot Options
then
1. Select Install/Boot Device
then
7. List all Devices
then you select the Device Number of the IDE DVD-Rom and then
2. Normal Boot
then
1. Yes
The LPAR will Boot now yaboot from the CD Rom. At the prompt, you just hit RETURN to boot the Installation Kernel. After booting the Kernel Linux demands
Make sure that CD number 1 is in your drive
Now you insert CD 1 of SLES9 to continue. Yast2 will start and you select
Boot Installed System
once in the System you either run YOU (yast online update) or you download and install
http://sdb.suse.de/download/ppc/update/SUSE-CORE/9/rpm/ppc/lilo-0.0.15-22.23.2.ppc.rpmwith
rpm -Uhv lilo*
and then run
lilo
and then reIPL the LPAR normally again.
