Updated Software

As 2009 draws to a close, there are no new software updates. However we have updated the licenses for 2010. Customers and partners who have implemented systems with 2009 licenses are advised that these licenses will expire on January 15, 2010. The new licenses can be installed any time between December 1, 2009 and January 15, 2010 to ensure continuity. These licenses are not tied to the dates of your subscription so all customers and partners are affected.

The following product licenses will expire on January 15, 2010:

  • BorderManager 3.7, 3.8 and 3.9

  • Cluster Services 1.01 and 1.7

  • eDirectory 8.7

  • NFS 3 and 4.1

  • NSBS 5.1, 6.0 and 6.5

  • NetWare 5.1, 6.0 and 6.5

  • Teaming 2.0

  • Sentinel Log Manager 1.0

  • Sentinel Rapid Deployment 6.1

Technical White Papers

This month's white papers and technical papers cover a broad range of Novell products to keep you up-to-date. We've included papers with best practices for eDirectory and Identity Manager. Cloud computing has dominated the industry conversation for quite some time.   • GroupWise* 8.0.1 View Designer lets you send mail messages with a personal or professional touch, such as a graphic of your favorite hobby or a company logo.

  • GPTrustee is a very simple windows application that from a Windows XP client with the NetWare client installed will allow you to backup trustee rights to a text file and restore trustee rights from a text file.

  • Delete Empty Columns in a CSV File: In Novell Log Manager, a user can export search results as a CSV file where of the 300+ columns, more than 200+ columns may be empty. This simple tool removes all empty columns from the specified input file and writes it to the specified output file for easy editing.

Phasing Out the Windows Based Folio Search

Novell is currently including two search functions as part of the Novell Professional Resource Suite: the Windows-based Folio Search and the multi-platform search. In the January 2010 release, the Windows-based Folio search will no longer be included. We suggest you install and run the multi-platform search now and get familiar with its features.
