This file contains the current updates to the release of Novell DOS 7
Make a backup copy of each file being replaced before copying the new file into that same directory. The integrity of any file can be verified by comparing the file's checksum with the checksum located in HISTORY.TXT. To calculate the checksum of any file, use the Novell DOS 7 command XDIR <filename.ext> /C from the command line.
Copy all files to the NWDOS directory except for IBMBIO.COM, IBMDOS.COM, and
COMMAND.COM. Instructions for these three files are as follows:
Command.com
-----------
COPY A:\COMMAND.COM C:\COMMAND.COM
ibmbio.com / Ibmdos.com
-----------------------
XCOPY A:\IBMBIO.COM C:\IBMBIO.COM /HRV
ATTRIB -A +R +S +H C:\IBMBIO.COM
XCOPY A:\IBMDOS.COM C:\IBMDOS.COM /HRV
ATTRIB -A +R +S +H C:\IBMDOS.COM
For symptoms, review the file HISTORY.TXT.
New files for this release:
IBMBIO.COM - Third party command processors would not trace/skip the AUTOEXEC.BAT on an F8/F5 boot.
IBMDOS.COM - FCB handling further improved for MS-DOS compatibility.
IBMDOS.COM - On WfW network drives mapped to a NWDOS machine changing directories in Open-File dialogues now works
COMMAND.COM - Several Minor Changes
EMM386.EXE 3.1 - With VCPI/DPMI apps running under TaskMgr, NumShift in TaskMgr configured to use the left <SHIFT> key, and NUMLOCK switched on handling of the enhanced cursor movement keys now functions correctly.
DPMS.EXE 1.43 - The 286 module when loaded as TSR now frees up its environment.
ANSI.SYS 1.11 - The ascii 132 character can now be entered through ALT-<numpad>
NWCDEX.EXE 2.81 - On certain CDs files at the end of directories are now listed or accessible (eg. Windows NT CD).
SYS.COM 1.37 - The boot sector serial number and volume label are no longer changed if they were valid before.
DELPURGE.EXE 1.02 - Lost clusters had been left if more than one deleted subdirectory was purged in a single operation.
MEM.EXE 1.11 - No longer crashing in OS/2 DOS session.
Apply the files as indicated in the installation instructions.
