Free installation assistance is available via the YaST module, Novell Self Service, e-mail or telephone, depending on your product version. In order to open a support request, you first need to create a Novell Account for yourself if you do not already have one. Then you can register your 14-digit code (found on the back of the DVD cover) on your portal account and request support. Please note that only registered openSUSE users are entitled to installation assistance.
Please be aware that incorrectly spelled commands, links or directory names cause problems and delay responses, particularly when this information is dictated over the phone. Please be precise in providing brief but accurate problem descriptions.
Installation assistance via the Novell Self Service Site
Once you have registered your product, you can open a service request through the Self Service site.
Installation assistance via telephone
We make every effort to solve your problem quickly and directly; phone queries typically do not last more than five minutes. When calling to request support, please be prepared with your Contact ID (CID) which is provided in the registration confirmation e-mail.
Please note that phone providers will charge you for your call. This will either be a national or international call depending on where you are calling from. For some countries it is a low cost service number (see pricing information in the table below).
You may also want to note that call volume is much higher at 1 p.m. than later in the afternoon. If you cannot immediately contact a support employee, you may want to consider trying again later or contacting us through the Self Service site.
