Novell is pleased to announce a new service offering with the release of Service Pack 2 for SUSE® Linux Enterprise 10, which will improve support for SUSE Linux Enterprise over its product lifecycle. Beginning with Service Pack 2, all customers with current SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 product subscriptions will receive an overlap period of support on the previous service pack for 6 months from the time the latest service pack is released. This extension provides our customers with additional time for planning, testing and migrating their systems to the latest service pack. During this period, customers will continue to receive maintenance updates for critical security issues and bug fixes for the previous service pack.
For all customers with support contracts (standard or priority product subscriptions, or premium support contracts), severity level 1 and severity level 2 issues will be supported, including the release of PTFs (Product Temporary Fixes). Definitions for severity levels can be found at http://support.novell.com/additional/faq.html.
Note: maintenance update releases must be applied immediately. (There will be no overlapping period of support for systems that have not had maintenance updates applied, once maintenance updates are released.)
Customers must have a valid SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 product subscription and associated service contract with Novell to receive updates and support through this program. Programs for longer service pack support are planned in the future. Please contact a Novell partner or your Novell sales representative if you require support coverage for periods greater than 6 months.
