fix

Fixed in NCP65SP5A.EXE and may be downloaded from Novell's support site.

WORKAROUNDS:

NOTE:  This list of workarounds is not comprehensive.  You may have or find other workarounds that may be acceptable for you in your environment.

1.)  You can take NCP.NLM from NetWare 6.5 SP4a and replace the NCP.NLM on your NetWare 6.5 SP5 server and reboot the server.  After the reboot, you should be able to purge and salvage on traditional volumes.  To replace NCP.NLM, please do the following steps:

a.)  Extract NW65SP4A.exe.
b.)  Open NoRM ( https://<ip_address-or-dns_name>:8009 ) and login.
c.)  Within NoRM, click on "Manage Server" and then "Volumes".  You should see "Local Server Partitions" with a link to C:.  Click on the C: link.
d.)  Go into the NWSERVER directory.  Scroll down to the NCP.NLM file.  Click on the Rename link and rename the current NCP.NLM to NCP.SP5 and save the name change.
e.)  Scroll up to the top of the page and click on the Upload link.  You can now browse out to the location of the file.  Go to where you extracted the NW65SSP4A file.  Go to the /nw65sp4a/STARTUP directory and select NCP.NLM in that directory and click on the "Open" button within your browser.  Once the file is sitting there, click on the "Upload" button.  The file will now be copied to C:\NWSERVER directory.
f.)  Once the new NCP.NLM has been uploaded to C:\NWSERVER, you will want to restart the server.  You can use NoRM to restart the server, or you can do a "reset server" at the server console.

2.)  You can do a purge from within NoRM on the volume.  To do a purge via NoRM, please do the following steps:

a.)  Open NoRM (https://<ip_address-or-dns_name>:8009 and login.
b.)  Within NoRM, click on "Manage Server" and then "Volumes".  You should see a list of all of your volumes.  Click on the white lowercase I icon in a circle.  There you should see an option to purge your volume.  Click on that link and you should be able to purge your volume.
