symptom
Machine hangs when using ZEN Imaging
Imaging Engine hangs and lose use of keyboard and mouse
PXE boot process hangs when loading PCMCIA
HP NC 6120 Laptop will hang when booting into the ZEN Imaging Linux Kernel
fix
If you use the "ACPI = OFF" boot option during the boot-up process the machine will not hang and imaging operations can be performed.
For PXE Imaging, the "ACPI=OFF" option must be entered as a line in the files contained on the imaging server in the tftp/cmds directory. The files z_auto.cmd and z_maint.cmd are the most used and represent automatic mode and maintanence mode, respectively. The "ACPI=OFF" kernel parameter option will be read from these files as the kernel loads which will resolve the hanging issue.
