Novell Open Enterprise Server for Linux

SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9

Novell Modular Authentication Service version 2.3

Novell Virtual Office

symptom

Users using Virtual Office's Password Self help are only seeing a blank screen.

Some users see the typical VO pages but others in different contexts do not.

Virtual office log file shows: " No Branding Area found in any config - Building a default Branding Area " .

change

Either the VO password management link has not been enabled, the user contexts have not been set or there is a problem with the portalservletproperties file.

fix

1. Make sure that the password management link has been enabled by using the administrative link in VO's management utility ( https://x.x.x.x/vo ).

2. Ensure that the user contexts have been correctly added.
Log into Virtual Office using the admin user that you used to install/configure VO.  Select the Environment Administration link on the bottom left of the page.  Select the Portal Information tab and look at the list of portal containers.  Ensure that context for the affected users are displayed.  If not,  add their context(s) to the list.

3. Move the file /var/opt/novell/tomcat4/webapps/vo/WEB-INF/PortalServlet.properties to another location and reconfigure Virtual Office using the custom mode.  Then add the appropriate containers to search for users.
