symptom

Howto configure iChain PIN list

iChain not caching Web objects defined in PIN bypass list

Cannot disable caching of Web objects with iChain

fix

Make sure that the cache bypass list URL includes an entry for each directory level. For example, when you want to prevent caching of all objects on the http://www.novell.com accelerator, you must define multiple entries in the PIN list (note that the scheme - http or https is not defined in a PIN list entry). The PIN list is configured under the iChain Web GUI Configure -> Management -> Enable PIN list Tab:

www.novell.com/*
www.novell.com/*/*
www.novell.com/*/*/*
www.novell.com/*/*/*/*
www.novell.com/*/*/*/*/*

where www.novell.com is an accelerator for a back end Web server that is five directories deep. Only adding the first entry above will prevent objects located in the root directory of the back end Web server from being cached.
