cause

New feature of Novell iPrint Client

fix

Disable the "Enable the iPrint icon in the system tray." switch on the "Tray Icon" tab in the Novell iPrint Client settings

Set the registry key "Tray Icon Setting" to REG_DWORD value 0 in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers and remove the iPrint Tray registry key in the hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

note

The iPrint Client maintains 2 registry keys for its system tray icon:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printer:
Tray Icon Setting (REG_DWORD): "0" (=disable) or "1" (=enable)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run:
iPrint Tray (REG_SZ): "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\iprntctl.exe TRAY_ICON"

Behavior of the iPrint client with different parameters set:
- When the iPrint client finds the "Tray Icon Setting" registy key set to 0 at user login, the iPrint system tray icon will not be displayed even when the "iPrint Tray" registry run key still exists.
- When the "Tray Icon Setting" is set to 1 but the "iPrint Tray" registry run key is missing, the iPrint system tray icon will not start automatically.
- When the "Tray Icon Setting" parameter is missing, the iPrint system tray icon will be set to "1" when the iPrint Client system tray starts or the iPrint Client settings are invoked.
- When "Tray Icon Setting" is set to "1" but the "iPrint Tray" key is missing, you need to disable the "Enable the iPrint icon in the system tray." switch in the iPrint Client settings, press ok, restart the iPrint Client settings & enable that switch again, getting the iPrint Client settings to add the "Tray Icon" registry run key.
