symptom

iManager plugin for NFS Gateway management is missing or not fully functioning.

Error:  NWInstallShim:  Exited with status 11.

cause

The iManager plugin for NFS Gateway for NetWare 6.5 could be missing or not fully functional for several reasons.

-  The original NFS Gateway for NetWare 6.5 product install does not attempt to install the plugin.  That plugin must be installed manually, as indicated in the documentation.

-  Support Pack 1 for NFS Gateway for NetWare 6.5 will attempt to install an updated plugin.  This new plugin will not be available in iManager until Tomcat is restarted.

-  If Support Pack 1 for NFS Gateway for NetWare 6.5 is installed immediately after a server reboot, there may not have been enough time for Tomcat and iManager to initialize enough to accept the plugin.

-  Other miscellaneous failures may have occurred.

fix

Take the following steps to verify and/or reinstall the NFS Gateway plugin (NFSGYAdmin.NPM).  Steps 1 - 3 may correct a problem without a full removal.  Step 4 covers a full removal and replacement.

1.  Stop and start tomcat (Execute TC4STOP, wait 1 minute.  Execute TOMCAT4 and wait 5 minutes).  Then check iManager again.

2.  If step #1 did not solve the problem, delete the contents of SYS:\tomcat\4\work\standalone\localhost\nps\portal\modules\nfsgy\skins\default\devices\default\   then repeat step 1.

3.  If step #2 did not solve the problem, possibly the easiest solution is to reinstall the Support Pack (or Overlay install of the support pack).  Usually if the NPM failed to install with the Support Pack, a second attempt will succeed.  Remember to repeat step #1 after reinstalling the Support Pack.

4.  After step #3, if the plugin is still not visible or not fully functional, remove it and reinstall it.   The steps are:

a.  Delete the NFS Gateway plug-in entry from iManager as follows:  Click Configure (icon of man at desk) > iManager Configuration (on left) > Modules, then select the NFSGYAdmin module and click Delete.

b.  Verify the following items are no longer present:
file:  sys:\tomcat\4\webapps\nps\packages\NFSGYAdmin.npm
file:  sys:\tomcat\4\webapps\nps\WEB-INF\lib\nfsgy.jar
files:  SYS:\tomcat\4\work\standalone\localhost\nps\portal\modules\nfsgy\skins\default\devices\default\*.*
directory:  sys:\tomcat\4\webapps\nps\WEB-INF\modules\nfsgy
directory:  sys:\tomcat\4\webapps\nps\portal\modules\nfsgy

c.  Install the new version of NFSGYAdmin.npm as follows:  Click Configure (icon of man at desk) > Module Configuration (on left) > Modules > Install Module Package, and browse to NFSGYAdmin.npm.  The NPM is located as follows:
In the First Shipping version of NFS Gateway for NetWare 6.5, it is present in the root directory of the product install materials.
In the Support Pack 1 install materials, it is present inside the NFSGYN65.ZIP file, at path tomcat\4\webapps\nps\packages
In the SP1 Overlay install materials, it is present at NFSGY\tomcat\4\webapps\nps\packages

d.  Stop and restart Tomcat (Execute TC4STOP, wait 1 minute.  Execute TOMCAT4 and wait 5 minutes).
