symptom
Mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda[x], or too many mounted file systems
fact
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9)
Multipathing with EVMS
Reiser Filesystem (ReiserFS)
This message is seen when trying to mount a Reiser Filesystem that has been defined on Multipathing Devices (MD).
fix
If you are using ReiserFS, you will need to mount the filesystem using the '-o barrier=none' parameter.
note
It is important to note that if you are using EXT3 as the filesystem that this option syntax is different (-o barrier=0), as well as the symptom (mounted filesystem changes to read-only upon writing to the filesystem).
