All this symptoms point to a schema problem, schema was not properly extended.
fix
To re extend the schema, follow this steps:
1. Create a user on the same container as vpn server and he needs admin rights and blank password. Blank password is very different from having NO password. If any user has no password, then they do not have a public/private key pair to compare against when attempting login. A blank password will generate a public/private key pair, although the actual string for the password is empty. To set a blank password, go into ConsoleOne and click on the Restrictions tab page. Then click on Change Password. Without typing anything, click Set Password. This will set the password to an empty string.
2. Go into ConsoleOne and enter the properties of the LDAP GROUP object:
- Uncheck TLS checkbox
- In the proxy Username, enter the user created in the previous step above.
- Enter the properties of the LDAP SERVER object, and in the SSL/TLS configuration tab, uncheck "Require TLS for All operations". Then in the General tab, press "Refresh NLDAP server now". Accept and exit console one
3. From the NBM 3.8 CD, copy \UNSUPPORTED\VPN Schema Extension Removal Utility\Extension\*.ldf file to sys:system\schema. If they are there already, override them, and copy schXtnd.nlm to sys:system
4. At server console type:
SCHXTND <Admin Name in full LDAP format> <password> <Want to use cleartext passwords (y/n)>
Example:
schxtnd cn=admin,o=novell novell y
Then you should see on the logger screen some activity till the message "succeed".
5. Go to iManager and reconfigure your vpn settings.
After that, iManager should saved the settings and startvpn will load all modules
