fix

License Object in eDirectory:

- This license object is created during the ZENworks product install.
- An evaluation license is different from a production/retail license. One can always delete the object and then recreate it by using the ZENworks install CD or the Console One ZENworks licensing utility (Tools, ZENworks Licensing).
- The object is called "ZENWorksLicenses", stored at the root of the Tree.
- It cannot be moved or renamed, doing so will cause it to no longer function
- Does not have any snap-ins because it is not a configurable object. Appears in ConsoleOne as an unknown object.
- License details can be seen on the Other tab of the object. The actual license keys have been encrypted so the actual text is meaningless.

ConsoleOne Usage:
- License object is accessed and read for a variety of ZENworks functions.
- License object gets cached on the local drive of the workstation that is running ConsoleOne. It gets copied to a file called "licenses.read" in the "C:\novell" directory. User running ConsoleOne needs to have read and write rights to that directory on the workstation running ConsoleOne.
- User doing ZENworks functions in ConsoleOne needs to have read rights to the License object at the root of the eDirectory tree.

If you have a computer that doesn't have a C: drive, (this is common with Terminal servers), and say it has an E: drive instead you need to do this:
Put the folowing in a BAT file before you run C1:
subst e:\novell c:\novell

note

The ZENworks License doesn't do any kind of activation to servers at Novell. The licensing process is completely contained within the eDirectory object and ConsoleOne Snapins.

A removal and re-install of the License might be necessary if upgrading from an Evaluation license. Remove the eDirectory License object for ZENworks, and then the licenses.read file on the workstations running ConsoleOne to prepare for a license re-installation. Then, use either the licensing option on the ZENworks product installation CDs or use the Console One tool (Tools, ZENworks Licensing) to reinstall the object.
