NetStorage

fix

NetStorage implements the WebDAV locking mechanism. The requester asks to put a write lock on a file for a given length of time. The lock response says that he has the lock (or doesn't) and includes the new time. (We're allowed to override his time request if we don't like it.) The requester must then refresh the lock within that time limit or it expires and is lost.

When you use the HTML interface to NetStorage, the periodic lock refresh is done by Javascript on the browser page.

For that mechanism to work properly you need to make sure that:

a) The browser window that acquired the lock hasn't been closed or loaded with another page

b) Javascript is enabled on the browser.

When NetStorage locks a file it is only locked for NetStorage. Using other protocols like CIFS and NCP will not see the lock.
