The purpose of the DHCP option for the Middle Tier address is to avoid workstations traveling across WAN links to authenticate through the Middle Tier. In a large corporation where DNS is not sub-zoned, this option should solve the problem of roaming users talking to their home Middle Tier servers when on the road. The local DHCP server should be configured to send out the address of the local MidTier.

Starting with the ZfD Management Agents dated Nov 03 and later, and by default, the management agent will first look for ZENworks option 100 for a Middle Tier address. If you want to change the option number, you will need to add the following registry key to the managed workstation:
HKLM\Software\Novell\ZENworks\<dword> MiddleTierDHCPOptionNumber
You can set the decimal value of this key to be any number, and then you will need to configure the same option number in DHCP.
Verify that the DHCP option is being used for the Middle Tier address:
Look at HKLM\Software\Novell\ZENworks\<string> MiddleTierAddress
This key should be updated with the correct address being delivered from DHCP. If you delete this key, it should be recreated with the DHCP option's address on the next reboot.
To disable this functionality (using the ZfD 6.5 agent), you need to modify the registry:
To disable this functionality (using the ZfD 4.0.1 Agent), you need to modify the same parameter in the registry but you need the WM.EXE file dated August 5, 2004 which is in the agent dated that or newer.

Note that when you create the option in DHCP, it should be set to "string", not "IP Address" (the agent process expects a string, because you can specify an IP address or DNS name for the Middle Tier).
