Novell GroupWise Internet Agent 6

symptom

Logging into GWIA via IMAP gives Error: LOGIN GroupWise login failed

Error: "LOGIN GroupWise login failed"

Cannot login in using IMAP

Error on GWIA screen but no errors on the POA

change

Installed GroupWise 6.5 Support pack 1

cause

Corrupt GWAC.DB

fix

1. In ConsoleOne under the GWIA object | post office links, verify post office link setting is set to c/s.
2. Bring down the GWIA.
3. Rename the gwac.db in the domain/wpgate/gwia directory.
4. Edit the GWIA object in ConsoleOne and check the post office links and see if it is still c/s only.
5. Select the access control tab to recreate the GWAC.BD.
6. Test login.  If successful re-configure all Access control setting for exceptions and other class of service.

cause

Incorrect login information set for user who is authenticating to the mail server.  Was set to user@domain.   Should be just user ID as set up in GroupWise system.

fix

Correct login information so it reflects the Groupwise user ID and not the internet mail address

cause

The GWIA could not connect to the POA on port 1677.

fix

Fix the communication issue to allow the GWIA to connect.  If it is in a DMZ or outside a firewall open port 1677 to allow the connection.
