cause

/var/adm/utmpx is corrupt.

fix

Use /usr/lib/acct/wtmpfix to fix the bad records in /var/adm/utmpx. Type "man wtmpfix" for the manual page.

Example:

• cd /var/adm
• /usr/lib/acct/wtmpfix < utmpx > utmpx.fixed
• chown root:bin utmpx.fixed
• chmod 644 utmpx.fixed
• mv utmpx.fixed utmpx

The fix requires root (superuser) privilege.
