symptom

Purge update seen on POA log screen when a user opens e-mail.

cause

Corrupted subscriber record inside user database.

fix

For GroupWise 6 remove corrupted subscriber records by using standalone GWcheck (FGW64CK1.exe or later).

  1. Open GWCheck and fill in Post Office details
  2. In the User/Resource box enter the user database name for the user - eg. USERxyz.DB
  3. In Actions select Contents and Fix and deselect Structure
  4. On the Misc tab enter delsubscriberecords
  5. Select Run.
  6. Once complete enter the GroupWise client and select Tools | Options | Security | Notify and add the user back into the notification list.  Make sure to check 'Subscribe to alarms' and 'Subscribe to Notifications'.

For other versions of GroupWise open an incident with Novell Technical Support.
