How to install Veritas BackupExec with Branch Office

fix

Add all hardware necessary to server before installing Branch Office (If hardware was not on the server during the original installation, you can add the hardware, install Branch Office again and use the preserve data option to keep all current users and data.)

Setup Branch Office with IP address, server name, and DNS settings in GUI Setup Wizard (if new installation)

Login at server console as user: Supervisor with your password.

Make sure the native backup is not enabled

Type: set backup enable = no <enter>

Type: apply <enter>

Unlock console

Type: unlock <enter>

Login to Branch Office through client32 with user Supervisor

Through ConsoleOne on the client or a different NetWare server add a user in the " .apps" or ".appusers" container and edit their properties to give them rights equivalent to ".admin.apps" (example: user "BackupExec.apps") Make sure to setup a password for the user.

From the Windows Client that is mapped to Branch Office, install BackupExec 9.0 or later.  Do not select the load BackupExec automatically option. This will be set later.

Delete or rename the file SYS:\JAVA\BIN\JNCPV2.NLM

Edit the file SYS:\SYSTEM\BESTARTJ.NCF and add "-nbs" to the java load line

Example: JAVA -nbs -nsac -sn"Backup Exec Java Application Server" -Djava.security.policy=\\bkupexec\java\bkupexec.policy vrts.hro.net.rmi.server.ServerMain -P 10002 -Language eng

Edit the file C:\NWSERVER\STAGE.NCF

Add a line at the last of the file with command: delay 20

Add another line with command: BESTART.NCF

Save file

From the NetWare Console screen #1 type "BESTART"

Login as user you created for backup.

Example: .backupexec.apps

Switch back to NetWare console screen #1 type "BESTOP"

Type "RESET SERVER <enter>" from the same screen and the server will restart and load BackupExec.
