ZfD4 Management Agent Uninstall

symptom

MSI Error: 1603 Unable to uninstall management agent successfully

Error: "Feature transfer error.  Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation.  Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information"

-1603 Fatal error message occurs when attempting to uninstall the ZfD4 Agent from a Windows 2000 workstation where no Novell Client has been installed.

-1603 Fatal error message occurs during the Roll Back action when the ZfD4 Agent Uninstall is in the final stages of removing the Agent.

fix

This error has been reported to happen randomly if installing the ZfD4 workstation agent using the Program CD\Agent Install\SETUP.EXE.  Since Novell has moved away from the SETUP.EXE deployment method for the agent ( see this TID ), then the workaround below should be used to correct the issue.

note

Workaround:

1. Delete the InstallPath stringvalue from HKLM/Software/Novell/ZENworks/   and attempt the uninstall again.
