symptom
Error: "The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full."
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 for Windows NT/2000/XP returns the following error, when trying to save a copy of a PDF file:
"The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk."
cause
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 and 5.1 for Windows NT/2000/XP can only save a file successfully, if the total file name, including path name and extension, is not longer than 123 characters, regardless to the target directory being on a local or network drive.
fix
Save the file to a directory closer to the root of the file system and move it with the Windows Explorer to the desired destination afterwards.
Save the file with a shorter name and rename it with Windows Explorer to the desired file name later on.
