symptom

NMAS error -1642 when trying to authenticate.

Error is seen on the Novell Radius Services screen, when trying to authenticate.

cause

-1642
0xFFFFF996
NMAS_E_LOGIN_FAILED
Indicates that the secret (e.g. password) presented by the user is invalid.

fix

With Console1 check the Vasco Token object, and see if the number of fails has been incremented.
You can do this on the Token object directly in the Vasco container, or on the user object when a Vasco Token has been assigned to this user.
If you are sure that the correct token password was used and the number of fails are incrementing you can reset the token.
Digipass may have been programmed with time-based algorithm. In some cases, internal clock and server clock may need to be resynchronized. Using the reset operation will enable a new clock synchronization at next login. This action will also reset the error counter and the last login time.
