Novell Account Management 2.1 for Windows 2000.

Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.

Microsoft Windows 2000 Server with Support Pack 2.

The customer has re-installed Account Management and the Password Synchronization Service 3 times.

There were no errors or problems during any of the installations.

symptom

Passwords will not synchronize from NDS to Active Directory and vise versa.

Error 2147746132: Class not registered

The Password Synchronization Service is not running.

The Password Synchronization will not start.

When starting the Password Synchronization service the following error occurs:   "Error 2147746132: Class not registered."

cause

NTPROV.DLL and NDSPROV.DLL DLL's are not registered in the registry.

fix

Get to the server running the Password Synchronization Services.  Open a command prompt and change  to the \WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory.  

Run the following commands to register the DLL's.

regsvr32 ntprov.dll
regsvr32 ndsprov.dll

Start and stop the Password Synchronization Services (in some cases you may need to restart your server).
