Error: -253 0xFFFFFF03 = DSERR_BAD_STATION_NUMBER

Error:  -625 0xFFFFFD8F = ERR_TRANSPORT_FAILURE

LDAP operations (modifies or searches) fail with LDAP error 80.

LDAP log file contains additional information.  The result code will indicate "NDS error: bad station number (-253)" on eDirectory 8.5.1 and "NDS error: transport failed (-625)" on eDirectory 8.6.1.

Users can't login to GroupWise when using LDAP authentication.

LDAP applications randomly fail or report spurious -672 (no access) messages.

cause

This problem is caused by a timing error between NDS and LDAP. When an LDAP authentication attempt fails, it is possible for a subsequent LDAP connection to be incorrectly overwritten.  The problem will be most pronounced in environments where many users are entering incorrect passwords or have expired accounts.

fix

DS.NLM 85.25b will resolve this issue for eDirectory 8.5.1.

eDirectory 8.6.2 will resolve this issue for eDirectory 8.6.
