symptom

Contextless login fails with NetStorage

Cannot login to NetStorage.

cause

When installing NetStorage, the authentication domain defaults to the servername followed by the servers context.  Only users at this context or below in the tree can successfully login.

fix

Support Pack 1 for NetWare 6 (NW6SP1.exe) allows you to easily configure NetStorage through NSADMIN utility, without having to manually edit the NetWare registry.
To access the NetStorage Management Utility from your browser, type:
    https://<ipaddress>:<secureport>/oneNet/nsadmin
(Replace <ipaddress> with your NetStorage servers' IP address.  Also note the capital "N" in oneNet.)
**Note** If you installed NW6 using a single IP address, you'll need to include the secure port for Apache (I.e. https://<ipaddress>:51443/oneNet/nsadmin)

By default, NetStorage only allows contextless login authentication for the first context specified.  With the NetStorage Management Utility, it is now possible to configure multiple contexts for contextless login.  This is configured under Manage XTier | Authentication Domains | click on the 'Add Context' button.

**Note** When configuring NetStorage for contextless login, (using multiple authentication contexts or secondary authentication domains) LDAP must be configured for clear text.  Using ConsoleOne, check the "use clear text check box" on the LDAP Group object for the server.  If clear text is not enabled, only the primary context will work.
