fact
Novell NetWare 6.0
NetWare Installation
New Server Installation
Novell International Cryptographic Infrastructure (NICI)
symptom
After selecting additional products to install during a NetWare 6 install or upgrade, the install prompts multiple times to login, never accepting the name and password.
cause
The NetWare 5.X server that hosts the Certificate Authority does not have NICI 1.5.7 installed on it.
fix
Install NICI 1.5.7 or later on the NetWare 5.X server that hosts the Certificate Authority. You can get the latest NICI from the Novell download page.
NOTE: The NetWare server that hosts the Certificate Authority is usually the first NetWare 5.X server installed in your tree. To find out for sure, launch ConsoleOne. Inside the security container, double-click on the "<tree name> Organizational CA" object. The Host Server entry under the General Tab will state the NetWare server that hosts the Organizational CA.
