Novell Client 3.3 for Windows 95/98

Novell NetWare 5.1 Support Pack 3 (NW51SP3.EXE)

symptom

Error "The system could not log you into the network. Make sure you name and connection information are correct, then type your password again."

This occurs with the Windows 95-98 Novell client versions 3.0, 3.21, and 3.3. The Novell client 4.8, and the 4.81 do not have this problem.

change

Unchecked "Require Password" for user objects.

fix

As a work around, when the require password field is unchecked, click on the change password tab and enter your old password. Don't put in a new password, leave it blank. You will not get the error next time you log in.

Novell has elected to not change this behavior.
