symptom

NFS 3.0 does not update products.dat

Installing NFS 3.0 does not update the products.dat, which does it impossible to install any further service packs.

Read TID 10060763, which describes how to manually update the products.dat file.

fix

Create a file containing the following:

ProductRecord NFS,0, "3.0.0"
ProductRecord NFS,1,"NetWare NFS 3.0"
ProductRecord "NFS-GWY",0,"1.0.0"
ProductRecord "NFS-GWY",1,"NFS Gateway"
ProductRecord "NFS-SVR",0,"1.0.0"
ProductRecord "NFS-SVR",1,"NFS Server"
ProductRecord "NFS-NIS",0,"1.0.0"
ProductRecord "NFS-NIS",1,"NIS Services"

Name it NFS30.IPS, and save it on the server, i.e. SYS:\NFS30.IPS
Run NWCONFIG go to Products Options -> View/Configure/Remove installed products -> Press <INS> and point to SYS:\, NWCONFIG will now update the products.dat file with the above information, and you should be able to apply any service pack.
