how to disable auto-update for GroupWise client

symptom

GW5 users are being requested to update their GW5 code when they start GW. Message "There is new GroupWise software available, however, you cannot currently access it to update your version. Please contact your administrator for help."

fix

The are 2 possibilities:

1) Create a software distribution directory (SDD). Under this directory create a directory called Client. Copy from the original SDD only the files in the root of the client directory, except software.inf. When the client start it will send his software info to the POA, but because there is no SOFTWARE.INF in the SDD, there can never be a newer version available. The SOFTWARE.INF is a file that is present in both client as SDD. This file contains the buildnumber of GroupWise.

2) Remove the SDD from the Post Office. On the workstation change the following registry key to 0:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\GroupWise\Client\5.0\NewSoftwareBump
