goal
How to clean the Windows 2000 Group Policies delivered by ZFD3 off of a Windows 2000 Professional Workstation.
Troubleshooting Windows 2000 Group Policies.
fact
Novell ZENworks for Desktops 3.0
Windows 2000 Group Policy.
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.
symptom
Windows 2000 Group Policies aren't working.
Prior to installing ZFD3 SP1, a Windows 2000 Group Policy package was delivered to the workstation and may or may not have worked.
The Windows 2000 Group Policy directory is being read, but the policies are not copying to the workstation.
fix
Follow these steps to "clean off" any existing Windows 2000 Policies from the workstation:
1. Delete the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\GROUPPOLICY directory.
2. Delete the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\GROUPPOLICY.WMCACHE directory.
3. Delete the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\GROUPPOLICY.WMORIGINAL directory.
4. Delete the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Novell\Workstation Manger\Group Policies\User key (if present).
5. Delete the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Novell\Workstation Manger\Group Policies\Workstation key (if present).
6. Run GPEDIT.MSC. This will rebuild the C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\GROUPPOLICY directory in preparation for a new policy to be delivered through ZFD3.
Verify that the DS is healthy before and after the ZFD 3 install and that all DS issues have been resolved. If there are or have been DS issues, deleting and re-creating the policy package after the DS issues have been resolved may be necessary.
