symptom

WP Error : "Access denied, you do not have rights to do this".

Can't save files using WordPerfect 9

note

Upgrading client from 4.71 to 4.8 is no improvement.

Save with Admin rights still does not work.

Win95/98 machines running Client 3.1 with no support pack has no problem.

cause

Corel file save process: User opens a .WPD file, modifies it, then saves it:  System saves it first as PFxxx.TMP file, deletes the original .WPD file,  renames the .TMP file back to .WPD file and deletes the .TMP file.  But in this case, the original .WPD file is never deleted and instead gets the Error: "Access denied, you do not have rights to do this".   

fix

Make sure the users have the Modify right for the files.  

Apply the latest client.  Visit download.novell.com to find the latest client.
