goal
IPXRTR-6.50-4 SAP router configuration error detected
Node 00C04F80443C (device) claims network address 0AABBBAA should
be AABBBAAB.
fact
Novell NetWare 4.11
Novell NetWare 5.0
Novell NetWare 5.1
cause
Basically sap configuration errors on the console are going to be coming from sap broadcasts on the same network segment as the server that is getting the errors.
Sap broadcasts do not cross routers, so routers will be receiving these broadcasts on their different interfaces and then building their Sap tables accordingly, then when it is their turn to broadcast their tables they should be broadcasting what services they know about from one network interface to the other network interface(s) on that router.
NetWare servers will also act as routers if routing is enabled in inetcfg.nlm
fix
The easiest way to troubleshoot this is to get a list of internal and external IPX network numbers in your network mac addresses of routers, servers (NetWare and NT) and printers then to get a screen log thru console log of the exact error messages and what mac addresses they are coming from. this should help track down what devices are sending the saps. Run DSrepair /advanced / check network addresses and reset routers that may have old sap table information that is not aging out.
