How to Specify an IP address range for Network Address Restrictions in NetWare Administrator.

fact

Novell NetWare 5.1

Novell NetWare 5.0

NetWare Administrator

This function exists for IPX by specifying wildcards (FFFF) for the node.

fix

The trick is to set all host bits of the IP address to 0.

For example, if you have the IP subnet with an address range from 192.168.1.1 thru 192.168.1.254 (class c subnet mask of 255.255.255.0), you would enter 192.168.1.0 as the address restriction.

This will also work if you have a non default subnet mask.  For instance if your subnet was 192.168.1.64 to 192.168.1.127 (netmask 255.255.255.192), entering the address 192.168.1.64 as IP address restriction allows login from all computers in the subnet.
