Microsoft Windows 95 will GPF with Pedestal application and Client32 version 3.x.

With version 3.1 of client32 for Windows 95/98, Harland's Pedestal applications (LoanPublisher and Platform) will GPF when the program attempts to send jobs to a redirected lpt port.

Microsoft client for NetWare networks as well as Novell's client32 version 2.5 do not exhibit this problem.

Error: Fatal error 286.3330: General protection fault detected.

fix

This problem is resolved by using the Novell Client32 version 3.1 SP2 or higher. The latest version of the client can be download from http://www.novell.com/download/#Clients

Duplication Steps:

        In the Win95 "Details" properties for the printer we need the "Print to the following port" to be similar to the following:

        Install application and then perform the following for the printer setup.

        LPTx: (\\server\queue)

        Also make sure that the "port settings" has NO check mark for "Check port state before printing"

        The CONFIG.SYS file must contain the following lines:

        FILES=100
        BUFFERS=40
