Certificate Server

Novell NetWare 5 NDS8

symptom

Certificate Server, NICI and/or PKI do not properly install because of the incompatible versions

SSL -Error: 1229

Unable to find load file INITNICI.NLM

NetWare 5.1 install, the install does NOT ask to create a CA - Certificate of Authority

Error: "Certificate of Authority is older than the new version for Certificate Server. Retry?" Fails

fix

Pre-NetWare 5.1 into NetWare 4.11/4.2 BorderManager Tree:

Run NWDEPLOY from a Workstation against the 4.11/4.2 Tree - prepare for NDS 8 and Update the NLS - Licensing Services OR from DSREPAIR | Advanced | Global Schema Operations | Post NW 5 schema update | Optional Schema Enhancements
Run DSREPAIR | Advanced Options | Repair Local Database with options Check Local References and Rebuild Operational Schema. Run until 0 Errors.

Apply BM35SP1.EXE

ALTERNATIVE Solution:

A: Upgrade the NetWare 4.11/4.2 Certificate of Authority - CA - holder (IE. the BorderManager Server) to 5.1

B: Delete all Security Objects reinstall the Certificate Server and supporting Security Services: NICI, SAS, and PKI.

C: Change the SSL for BorderManager to JAVA Form instead of HTML Form: BorderManager Setup | Authentication context | select Java Form
